Advanced Standohyd Refinishing
Course details:
Suitable for those with a good overall knowledge and experience who want to increase their skills and productivity. The course covers advanced refinishing techniques in detail, including Micro Repair, the use of Ultra Violet–cured materials and the latest Platinum Clearcoats. The course also includes briefings on the new technology products, such as next generation clearcoats. Paint film rectification is also included.
The Standox System Designer is also explained, with delegates able to design and take away a personalised Standox system chart for their own bodyshop.
Full health and safety advice will be given.
This course is NVQ accredited, and helps refinishers gain their NVQ Level 3 qualifications.
Who should come:
Delegates should have some experience of waterborne basecoat. The course suits less experienced sprayers wishing to move up in their careers as well as establishers sprayers who need a refresher course in the latest techniques.

Standox Colouristic
Course details:
This course teaches how to match and mix metallic, pearl and xirallic colours accurately and quickly. Full background is given on how colours are created and the many systems currently available to help colour matching such as Color- Box, Standowin, Smart Scales, on line formulations and colour readers.
Delegates will be taught how to identify and develop colours. Detailed advice is given on the valuable skill of assessing colour direction, which helps fast and accurate correction of formulations and variants to match the vehicle colour.

For bodyshop and distributor staff with previous colouristic experience and sprayers who mix and match their own formulations.

This specialist paint course is designed to provide technicians with a comprehensive knowledge of the correct process of identification and application of special finishes such as a matt or tinted clearcoats.

IMI Accreditation Courses
IMI Senior Paint Technician
Senior paint technician accreditation assessment is available to refinishers with a minimum of three years experience in the industry. They must be able to demonstrate their ability to achieve a flawless finish both in panel preparation, blends/fade outs and when finishing panels/polishing to match existing vehicle paint.
This level requires candidates successfully to complete the following three modules and an on-line test consisting of 30 multiple choice questions:
AOM-219: Application of Wet on Wet Primer
AOM-222: Spot/Rapid Repair on a clear Over Base Finish
AOM-223: Application of a Stage Pearlescent Finish
Duration: One day

IMI Assessment Cosmetic Repair Technician
The Axalta Training Academy in Welwyn Garden City is an IMI Accreditation Approved Assessment Centre for both paint technician and senior paint technician levels. This Cosmetic Repair Assessment is fully accredited by the IMI governing body and is intended for technicians whose job role involves the repair of vehicle exterior bodywork through the use of vehicle SMART / cosmetic repair techniques.
In addition to this, technicians should currently work in the industry and have a minimum of 2 years’ experience, to ensure they are familiar with the skills, knowledge and techniques required. It prepares all candidates during a pre-assessment day to give them a good idea of what to expect in the test. Upon successful completion of the practical assessments and on-line knowledge test(s), Axalta is authorised to award IMI accreditation and to issue paint technicians with the IMI accreditation photo identity card which is valid for three years.

IMI Re-accreditation for Senior Paint Technicians
Senior Paint technicians who require re-accreditation before expiry of their previous IMI accreditation can take part in a one-day assessment covering one module and an on-line test consisting of 10 multiple choice questions:
AOM-226: Application and Blending of a 3 Stage Pearlescent Finish.
